Memorial Day 5K

I once again ran in the Memorial Day 5K here in Willmar on Sat.  This year I ran it with a friend of mine and we pushed Allison and her little guy!  This was pretty new for me, I don't usually run with Allison, I had the best of intentions and we have a jogging stroller, but I have been doing most of my running indoors yet this year and well, I just don't take her if I don't have to.  But anyway, my friend has a double jogging stroller and she was going to push her son, Soren, in it and asked if I wanted to run with her and bring Allison.  Oh, maybe I should add that Jesse was running this year too, so this way we wouldn't have to worry about finding someone to watch the kids while we ran.  Needless to say my time was a little slower, but I am ok with it considering we were pushing the kids and I have not been running much lately.  Allison did get a bit sick of being in the stroller - I guess we usually just go for short walks...but I would like to try it again and see if we can do better!

Me, an unhappy Allison (she wanted OUT), Soren (he was also ready to be done I think) and Solveig!

Jesse ran his VERY FIRST 5K!  He did GREAT!  Don't men just suck?!  He runs maybe 1 mile here and there, usually indoors at the Y, and STILL managed to run it in about 22 min.!!  So, even if I had not been pushing the stroller, I have to admit he would have still beat the pants off me!  Oh, well, I just do it for fun and am not very competitive about it.  But I am very proud of him and I hope he runs some more!  He is already signed up for another 5K...kind of by accident, but hopefully he does it!  Go honey!  And I didn't get a pic of him!  Next time!

Allison

I wasn't sure what to call this post...so I just went with Allison.  So, last weekend was fishing opener, and of course Jesse was going fishing.  And as we have the last couple years my mom and I (and Allison as of the past 2 years now) were going to Rochester to celebrate my cousin (he seems more like my nephew and he is my Godson) Nick's 7th B-day.

I had been REALLY looking forward to it.  Allison is at such a fun age, she loves to play and entertain!  Hmmm, I think it runs in the family!  Anyway, I was hoping she would take a nice long nap in the car on our way, I knew she was VERY tired and our plan was just to stop and eat when she woke up - I figured maybe Owatonna - Nope.  She only slept for 1 hour and we ended up stopping in Mankato.  Which was kind of fun because I got to take her on the big merry-go-round in the mall.  She loved it!  She loves rides and going fast!!

Anyway, got back in the car, hoped she would fall asleep again, no luck.  She started SCREAMING about 20 min. away (or maybe it was more, it felt like more).  I knew she was sick of being in the car, but she has never been upset like this before, I was afraid she was going to throw up she was crying so hard!  Anyway, we managed to make it and she relaxed and seemed to have fun.

But the combo of a short nap and playing (and crying) hard I knew she was VERY tired, but not one to give up easily on a party, she didn't go to sleep until 8:30.  So then I figured we were golden, she would sleep the rest of the night, I mean she was EXHAUSTED!  Wrong!  She woke up after only 1 hour again.  And would NOT go back to sleep.  We tried EVERYTHING, and I mean everything to get her back to sleep.  I couldn't figure it out, she was so tired but she would not sleep.  So at 12:15 we ended up coming home.  Ugh!  We got home at 4:30 a.m.  I ended up taking her to Urgent Care on Sunday because I was so worried about her (she had fits of uncontrollable crying in here too!!).  She was NOT herself, it made me so sad and worried me so much!  Anyway, turned out she was getting molars (which I actually knew, she is working on her last one I think - 3 are all the way in and 1 is pretty much in - had been going on for a couple weeks but only resulted in a low grade fever and SLIGHT fussiness cured with a little Children's Tylenol or Motrin), and an ear infection.  She has ear tubes (and they are thankfully still in place!) but the MD said it was caught early and wasn't draining yet and that is why I didn't notice any drainage, or I would have just started the drops without bringing her in.  Oh, and to top it off she was getting over Hand, Foot and Mouth disease.  She was pretty much over that but did have a sore I noticed on the roof of her mouth.  Sunday was a little rough, but after a good nap Sunday, a GREAT night sleep last night (12+ hours) and a good nap today, she was GREAT!  Although we are noticing she is starting to test us and push our buttons.  Showing her defiance - everything is "no".  I ask her to say "yes" every once in a while just to make sure she can say it!!  So we are dealing with that, and trying to figure out the best way to discipline her.  It is so hard!!  I won't get into that anymore tonight.

SURPRISE!!

2 Saturdays ago now (May 8th) I had a surprise b-day party for Jesse!  He turned the big 3-0 this year!  I was SO nervous he would find out, but he didn't!  It went GREAT!  Had a very good turnout and the weather wasn't bad for once (cool but at least it wasn't raining!).

Some friends of ours got together (Thanks Brad, Jodi, Holli and I think Tom helped - wink wink) before the big day and made t-shirts with a variety of pictures of Jesse on it and the caption "I make 30 look good" on them.  It is kind of a running joke amongst us (especially Jodi and Jesse) because it seems we always capture Jesse at his "best", or more like in a variety of awkard poses, faces, etc.  Jodi and Jesse have a running commentary on who has the most bad pics of whom!  Allison's was a cute one tho, and boy was it cute!!  She even wore it to daycare Monday!

The gang!  Those guys made a lot of shirts!  And I think Josh is missing from the photo!  It was a great day!

Busy, Busy, Busy

So, when does life slow down???  I keep thinking next week it will be quieter, next week we don't have anything planned...oh, that's right we have that one thing, and that seems to turn into 20!!  And we only have 1 child and she isn't old enough to be involved in after school events...or school for that matter!  Oh, well.  To be totally honest I kind of like it, I mean I must, because I do it to myself!  One thing that has been keeping us busy is our house if for sale.  We listed it 1 month ago (I know I am a bit behind, I have been meaning to post a pic of us with the "For Sale" sign, but obviously that hasn't happened!) and have had quite a few showing, but no offers yet.  Wow, is it stressful having your house for sale!!  I really hope it doesn't take forever to sell...but we'll see.  Market isn't great right now and a stimulus to home buyers ended at the end of April.  Bummer.  So anyway, lets take this week for example...I have all week off because this next weekend is my weekend to work.  So today we went to the Y, then tonight we had a showing at our house so we had to leave.  Tomorrow I am going to visit a friend who just had a baby, tomorrow night we are going to look at houses (also stressed b/c we haven't found the right one either!), Wed...hmmm, nothing (yet), and Thur. I have VB - the start of summer sand!  Yeah!  Oh, and then I have to work the weekend.  And of course the weekends I have off are jam packed it seems this summer!  Such is life!  I wouldn't change any of it...oh, except for our house to sell!!

That's right...Jesse is 30 now!  As he says "30 is the new 20!"  Well, hon, 30 never looked so good!  I love you!  I hope you have a wonderful day!
