Breath of Heaven

1 week ago, December 14, was one of the saddest days in our nation's history.  We all hugged our children a little tighter that night and prayed a little harder.  The horrific school shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary in CT.  I had worked a night shift the night before and when I got up I turned on the TV and it was all over the news.  I felt like it wasn't real.  I can not even begin to imagine the hurt those families were going through.  I pray with all my might that I never have to.  When I was on my way home from St. Cloud that evening I was playing a Christmas CD and one of my favorite songs came on.  It took on a whole new meaning for me.  The song, "Breath of Heaven" by Vince Gill (or previously Amy Grant) was playing on a new CD I had bought.

"Breath of heaven, hold me (us) together
be forever near me, breath of Heaven
Breath of Heaven, light in the darkness
Pour over me (us) Your Holiness for You are holy
Breath of Heaven"

I just thought about the Breath of Heaven, God's presence, holding those people of Sandy Hook together, surrounding them and holding them close.  For without it, they (because I know I would) would shatter, how do you keep going?  God being the light in the darkness for them.  For all of us.  Because our world is as "cold as stone".  We need God to shine some light and give us some warmth.  I am thankful my own babies are just babies and too young to know such evil even exists in this world.  But I know one day they won't be, I can't keep them in a bubble (even though I would love to!).
